Christy Cannon, CNM, WHNP is a dual-certified Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, master’s trained through Georgetown University. She is the founder of The Midwife & More, where she provides personalized, relationship-based hospital midwifery care for women who want a more supported, informed, and empowering pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience.
With more than two decades of maternal and newborn experience, Christy brings a rare depth of clinical knowledge to her work. Her background includes 23+ years as a NICU nurse, attendance at thousands of hospital births, extensive support in breastfeeding and newborn care, and nearly 1,000 babies personally delivered as a midwife. Her experience spans hospital, birth center, and home birth settings, giving her a broad and practical understanding of both physiologic birth and modern medical safety.
Christy is known for blending evidence-based care with a deeply personal, holistic approach. Through her concierge-style model, she offers unrushed prenatal visits, customized birth planning, hands-on labor support, postpartum follow-up, and ongoing guidance for the many physical and emotional concerns that can arise during pregnancy and early motherhood. She also provides full-scope care, including labs, prescriptions, and coordination with trusted specialists when needed.
Her work is rooted in both professional expertise and lived experience. As the oldest girl in a family of 13 children, Christy was exposed to birth from an early age and later went on to raise five children of her own, including twins and a child with Down syndrome. That combination of clinical training, birth experience, newborn expertise, and personal understanding shapes the compassionate, high-touch care she is known for today.
Since May 2025, Christy has also been a trailblazer for private hospital midwifery at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, helping expand access to a more personalized, low-intervention birth experience within a hospital setting. Through her writing, she shares practical, compassionate education to help women feel more confident, respected, and prepared for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery.
